GEW logo

Aston University is supporting Global Entrepreneurship Week 2012 - a practical week which enables individuals to learn more about the wealth of support that is available to entrepreneurs in the UK. Global Entrepreneurship Week helps to connect people, share ideas and explore issues in order to drive the next generation of business owners.

Pass it on

This year’s theme is ‘Pass it on’ passing on the practical help and support needed by early start-ups and individuals who are considering taking the plunge.

At Aston we work hard to make sure our students develop the technical, professional and transferable skills they need to be successful entrepreneurs.

Hundreds of our students and graduates have set up their own successful businesses. Meet some of Aston's entrepreneurs

If you are an entrepreneurial student or graduate you can join the Aston Entrepreneurs Network on LinkedIn to make new connections.

Digital business lessons:

Webinar Recording

(Please note: During the webinar there was a small technological issue with the slides, however you can manually move through the slides yourself by clicking the arrows on the top right hand side of the screen)

Birmingham and the West Midlands is one of the most creative places in the UK. Birmingham has more digital businesses than London’s Shoreditch led by companies such as Rare, Codemasters and Maverick TV, fast becoming a leading centre in the digital and IT industries.

The digital sector employs over 64,000 people in the city and is home to 21 per cent of the UK’s games workforce, with the West Midlands creative industries turning over more than £7billion in 2009 alone.

Birmingham has more, yet receives less recognition than other areas, how can our digital entrepreneurs change this?
