Tuesday 13th November 2012, Sumpner Lecture Theatre, 6pm
The Labour, Finance and Industry Group (LFIG) lecture provides an opportunity for a senior spokesperson for the Labour Party to make a major policy speech in their area.
Chuka Umunna entered Parliament in 2010 and is one of the rising stars of the Labour Front Bench. He is MP for Streatham and before entering Parliament worked as an employment lawyer.
Choices about the management of the economy have always been central to domestic and international politics but perhaps they are more important today than ever before.
The LFIG lecture provides an opportunity for a senior spokesperson for the Labour Party to make a major policy speech in their area. In contrast to our “soundbite age”, the lecture format allows more time for a major policy speech which can go into detail about lessons learned from past events, consider international comparisons and to set out the political and philosophical basis for emerging policy.
