Reduce - Reuse - Recycle

In February 2011, waste and recycling stations were installed in all offices and teaching areas, and desk bins were removed. These stations operate a three bin system, which can be used to dispose of:

  • Mixed recyclables; cans, plastics and glass
  • Paper and card
  • General waste that cannot be recycled

All bins are labelled with both text and pictures indicating what should be disposed of in each bin. For further info, you can take a look at our Quick Guide and FAQ's that were produced when the new system was installed in February 2011.

In addition to this, both Lakeside residences and Aston Student Village have the same three bin recycling stations in the kitchens of each flat. Unfortunately, due to the small size of the kitchens in Stafford Tower, recycling facilities here are in the form of large bins outside. Residents living here are therefore encouraged to take recycling from their kitchens down to the communal bins themselves. Recycling and waste is collected from our residences by Birmingham City Council.

For information on how to dispose of other types of waste, please check our Recycling A - Z.
