Carbon Meters

To monitor carbon dioxide emissions from the University's Main Building, we have installed meters which enable us to display our real time energy and water consumption.

These meters are displayed on information screens in the main entrance.  The displays are driven by the University’s electricity, gas and water meters and are translated to CO2 emissions per second, using Government conversion factors.  Energy management software also records electricity, gas and water consumption for longer term monitoring.

Aston is only the second organisation in the UK (after the Institution of Mechanical Engineers) to install such a system, demonstrating that the University is working at the forefront of innovations in environmental sustainability.
