The long awaited changing and showering facilities will open on Monday 25th October 2010.
The facilities are located on the lower ground floor in ‘A’ corner; they can be accessed either by using the lift next to Café Tierra or by entering through the East Yard compound (swipe access).
The facility is secured with a digital keypad; the access code will be circulated via the AstBUG mailing list so that this does not get abused by other users. Please do not pass the code on to anyone, unless you know that they cycle in regularly.
The facility offers showers, toilets, changing space, a drying room and lockers.
There is no cycle storage available so please park and secure your bike prior to using the facilities.
The South Wing cycle shelters are being very heavily used with the result that many bikes are being chained to railings and posts. Security will be tagging these bikes to be moved as this poses a health and safety risk. Please do not chain your bike anywhere outside of the shelters; in particular please do not block stairways or paths. Other shelters are available by the Student Guild, the Business school and behind the Library.
The cycle shelter next to Dalton Tower, currently out of bounds, will be relocated to the front of the Library, following completion of the Library refurbishment project.
We're keen to know which shelter you currently use and which one is / would be most convenient for you so that if we have the chance to extend these in future we’ll have your views; please let us know by email email@example.com
Cycle Chain were back on campus during Welcome Week, where they sold 11 bikes to both students and staff. We have also donated a number of abandoned bikes to them for refurbishment, and we will be encouraging this year’s students to donate their bikes at the end of the year. We will be inviting them in for more sales throughout the year.
Aston Wellbeing Group
The Wellbeing group are launching their new website this November; they will be spending a day in the upper lobby of the Main Building to answer your questions and promote their activities; including supporting the cycle to work scheme and encouraging staff and students to cycle regularly. Keep an eye on Aspects or the AstBUG mailing list for more details and a confirmed date.
