National Bike Week
From the 16th - 24th June 2012 there will be a number of events at Aston to help keep cycle to work issues in high profile.

Free Cycle loan scheme for staff and students
We now have three bikes on campus available for staff and students to borrow for short-term use at any time. To sign-up, simply complete the short form and take to security in the main building; then you are free to sign the bikes out - no need to book!
Birmingham City Council - free BeActive activities for LeisureCard holders including 1-1 cycle training, rides and workshops.
EastSide & routes south to Rea Valley
Work is progressing on EastSide City Park, and work began in August 2011 and is due to be completed by December 2012.
The signed cycle route from Meriden St. is blocked by development works and BCC cycling officer is trying to get some new signage via the top of Fazeley St. to the Jennens Road Toucan crossing.The Curzon St. pathway will also be closed until 30th May.
Boots/Carrs Lane: New contra flow planned from Old Square on left hand side - 'mid-August 2012'.
Cycling and walking route opens
The next section of the North Birmingham Connect2 cycling and walking route alongside Plants Brook, between Penns Lane and the Eachelhurst Road, is now open. It includes a link into Pype Hayes Park and a signed route to the Birmingham and Fazeley canal and Castle Vale. Mountain Bike sub-group
A number of members have started a sub-group and have been getting together for regular off road rides. There is also an Aston Running Group.
Changing and drying facility
There are now facilities available for members to use on the lower ground floor of the Main Building. For more info see the October 2010 Update, or contact Tim. There are also have a few tools and pumps available.
Cycle shelters
All the cycle shelters are fully operational, including two more by car park 6, however there is still overcrowding in SW and Guild shelters. Please park responsibly inside the shelters and without blocking access to the stairs or railings. The Green Aston map is available which includes the locations of all the shelters.
D-locks
These are still available on special offer for members from security, just go along with your staff / student ID card to purchase one. Our security team recommend these for use on campus to avoid theft.
