Nordic Walking
Nordic Walking is a style of walking that is becoming very popular in the UK. It began in the 1930s in Finland as a way for skiers to keep in shape during the summer months when there was no snow.
Nordic Walking is an enhancement of the normal walking style. It involves having a pole in each hand and moving the poles backwards and forwards with the walking motion. This means you are using more of the major muscles groups and getting more benefit than you would be if you did the same walk without the poles.
