Woodcock Sports Centre: Phase Two

Woodcock Sports Centre Phase 2 Impression 1

The Woodcock Street Sports Centre was developed in 1902 and the mid 1920s and was originally part of Birmingham City Council’s public baths provision. It is now under the ownership of Aston University, now largely used by students and staff, and is Grade II listed.

The University implemented a major refurbishment, alteration and repair project in 2010-2011 and now plans to extend the existing building to the north east elevation. The extension will provide a multi-purpose Sports Hall with viewing area, two Squash Courts, and additional changing and toilet facilities. These facilities will be designed and constructed to Sport England specifications for recreational sport standard.

Planning Consent for the scheme was obtained in early February 2012 and it is anticipated that the construction works will commence on site in May 2012, and the building opened in Spring 2013.
