Membership of the Convocation

Class 1 – The Officers Of The University

The Chancellor, the Pro-Chancellor, the Treasurer, the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro-Vice-Chancellors and the Executive Deans.

Class 2 – Former Members Of The Governing Body Of The College Of (Advanced) Technology, Honorary Associates Of The College, Elective Associates Of The College

Class 3 – Her Majesty’s Lieutenants

Her Majesty’s Lieutenants of the Counties of Hereford, Worcester, Shropshire, Stafford, Warwick and the West Midlands.

Class 4 – Representatives Of Religious bodies

Such representatives of religious bodies, not exceeding ten in number, as the Council shall from time to time determine.

Class 5 – Members Of Parliament

Members of Parliament for Constituencies in the Counties of Hereford, Worcester, Shropshire, Stafford, Warwick and the West Midlands.

Class 6 – Representatives Of Local Authorities

The Chairman of the County Councils of Hereford, Worcester, Shropshire, Stafford and Warwick. Such other representatives of Local Authorities, not exceeding twenty in number, as the Council shall from time to time determine.

Class 7 – Representatives Of Local Education Authorities

One representative of each of the following Local Education Authorities: the County Councils of Hereford, Worcester, Shropshire, Stafford and Warwick; the Metropolitan District Councils of Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

Class 8 – Representatives Of Industry And Commerce

Such representatives of industry and commerce, not exceeding 50 in number, as the Council may from time to time determine.

Class 9 – Representatives Of Professional Institutions

Such representatives of the following, not in any category exceeding 40 in number, as the Council on the recommendation of the Senate may from time to time determine: The Engineering Council and other Professional Institutions, Research Associations and Establishments, Learned Societies, Universities, and other Educational Institutions.

Class 10

(a) The members of the Council.
(b) The members of the Academic Staff.
(c) The Graduates of the University including Honorary Graduates.
(d) The Associates of the College of (Advanced) Technology.
(e) The President and Secretary of the Guild of Students.
(f) Emeritus Professors.
(g) Such other members of the University as the Council on the recommendation of the Senate shall from time to time determine.

Class 11 – Such Other Classes Or Persons As May On The Recommendation OF The senate Be Invited By The Council

(a) Retired members of the Academic Staff.
(b) Former members of the Council.
(c) Members of University Committees and Advisory Bodies who are not otherwise members of the Convocation.
(d) Directors of Companies wholly owned by the University who are not otherwise members of the Convocation.
(e) Appropriate MEPs.
